Ryan Lacey

Born in the depths of New Jersey (don't laugh) Ryan was brought out to California at a early age after a cheese smuggling incident forced him to seek safety on the west coast. He spent his youth in the great wasteland of Bakersfield, know widely for its country music scene and outlandish haircuts. (No, Ryan never had a mullet. Really!) At an early age, he stole his father's drum set and made it his own - the first step on a downward spiral of musical depravity.

After a brief stint in college studying philosophy Ryan moved to Yosemite National Park to work and play music. At the age of 19, after earning the price of a one- way flight on Aer Lingus, he moved to Ireland to continue his musical career. He soon hooked up with an Irish label called Origin Records, and became one of their house drummers for recordings and tours. During his 3 ½ year stint in Ireland, he toured throughout Europe with the Maighread Nelligan band, the Sarah Lynch band, Dextris, and Guava.

Since moving back to the states and relocating to Pasadena, Ryan has graduated from the Los Angeles Music Academy twice, once for hands and once for sticks. Before joining Gaelic Storm, Ryan had been the host drummer for a rock opera called Repo the Genetic Opera and had been playing and recording with many groups here in Los Angeles.

Just before entering the studio to rehearse with the band, Ryan was heard to remark: "Irish Band? No Problem ... There's NO WAY these guys party harder than my Brazilian friends!" Famous last words...
